Chief Iroha Awa, deputy director general of Good Governance Initiative, yesterday, said Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State would support the governoship ambition of Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

Awa, who spoke to Journalists in Umuahia, said Nwafor, has contributed and invested in youth and women development, noting that “he is eminently qualified to lead the state.”

Awa lambasted the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to zone its governoship ticket to Abia North senatorial district, noting that the people of the zone won’t support the governoship candidate of the PDP.

“We cannot support a party that failed to honour an agreement. PDP failed Abia North, especially Ohafia Local Government Area that supported her. What they did to us is unacceptable and we won’t accept it.

“APC is not in the governoship race to the best of my knowledge. APGA failed Ohafia just like the PDP. They had the chance of fielding a credible candidate in Etigwe Uwa (SAN), but failed to do so because of their selfish and personal interest. We have done our analysis and we are going to support someone from Umunneato. Enyinnaya Nwafor is the best man for the job. He is competent and committed to leading Abia State to flourish. We are going to be politically strategic with our approach and decision on who to support. Obviously, we won’t support an Abia North candidate because they failed to give us that support.

“Nana is from Umunneato, which is in Abia Central. We shall support him because he is the most competent from that axis. He is a team player, manager of resources with excellent managerial and leadership skills.

“His steadfastness, integrity and character are all well known. He has the requisite knowledge to do the job and build on what others have put in place,” he said.
