Embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has deleted a Facebook post in which he explained his relationship with alleged internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi. Mr Kyari was mentioned by Hushpuppi, as receiving part of the proceeds of fraud for which the latter is being prosecuted in the U.S. Hushpuppi, who has agreed to plead guilty to the fraud, told U.S. prosecutors that he gave Mr Kyari part of the proceeds of the crime. A resident of Borno state has said that Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari who is being investigated for the extent of his connection with suspected fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, sells cars he seizes from kidnappers and armed robbers in Maiduguri, the state capital. A former President of the Senate Bukola Saraki has explained why he visited the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for questioning. Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson of the commission, had told the News Agency of Nigeria that Mr Saraki was invited for questioning over allegations of corruption and money laundering. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has held a former president of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, in custody over allegations of theft and money laundering. Mr Saraki, a former Kwara State governor, was detained on Saturday, sources familiar with the development said, a situation that may trigger another episode of troubles for the politician. As senate president between 2015 and 2019, Mr Saraki spent a considerable time facing allegations of corruption and false declaration of assets. He was acquitted by the Supreme Court in June 2018. A human rights group, One Love Foundation has called for the immediate sack of embattled police officer, DCP Abba Kyari. Reports emerged that Kyari had ties to disgraced fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi. Buhari was arraigned on a one-count charge on Thursday over the collection of money under false pretense in respect to land. 20 suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State by the Kano Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The suspects, mostly in their early twenties, were arrested after reports showed that some Internet fraudsters were perpetrating fraudulent activities around the Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State. This was contained in a statement by the EFCC's spokesman, Wilson Uwajuren. The suspects are facing a 27-count charge bordering on alleged conspiracy, forgery, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of N553, 985,624.
