Unknown gunmen have attacked a Deeper Life Church in Irese, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state. According to SaharaReporters, the pastor of the church, Pastor Otamayomi Ogedengbe was also abducted by the gunmen who invaded the church around 9pm. The wife of the Pastor confirmed the incident. She said they went to the church together for a programme when the gunmen stormed the church and abducted her husband.

The Federal Government has re-introduced a nationwide 12am to 4am curfew to curtail further spread of COVID-19. The National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Mohammed, disclosed this at the briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 in Abuja. Mohammed said the curfew would take effect from midnight on Monday. He also said with effect from Tuesday, night clubs, gyms and others would remain closed till further notice. He said gatherings of religious groups and weddings among others have been reduced to 50 percent attendance while official engagements, meetings and conferences should continue to hold virtually.

The federal government has declared Wednesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 13, public holidays to celebrate Eidul-Fitr. Eidul-Fitr is a Muslim festival to celebrate the end of Ramadan fast.
