This is coming as members of National Association of Nigeria Students(NANS), is planning a counter protest against the June 12 protest by a coalition of civil society groups demanding good governance from leaders across the tiers of government.

NIYASA stated this in a statement signed by its national spokesperson, Comrade Osemudiamen Elvis Ogbidi and obtained by THE WHISPERER.

Osemudiamen said certain elements in students unionism have claimed that Nigerian students will not be part of the protests. He specifically mentioned the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) as claiming that they are not part of the protests.

The leader, who was also the Student Union President of University of Benin, called on media organisations, practitioners, lawyers and security agents to protect the protesters and refrain from harassing the protesters.

“I want to appeal to police men to ensure that they support us and protect us. Most of the demands we are making are meant for their own benefits. They should realize this and be on the look out to block hoodlums from hijacking the protests. If the protest is hijacked, then the government has a hand in it”, he said.
