INEC Fixes January 16 for Presidential, N’Assembly Elections The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, 16th January 2027 for Presidential and National Assembly elections. The Commission had earlier fixed Saturday, 20th February 2027 for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections and Saturday, 6th March 2027 for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections pursuant to the Electoral Act, 2022. Bayelsa Gov Picks RCCG Pastor As Deputy Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has appointed a provincial pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor (Hon.) Peter Pereotubo Akpe, as the new Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has resigned from office at the request of President Bola Tinubu. According to Premium Times, a source in the presidency said Mr Egbetokun was asked to resign at a meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. Mr Egbetokun is to be replaced by Tunji Disu, an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Premium Times reported.
