Thirteen persons, including women and children, have been killed in a boat mishap that occurred in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Thursday. The victims were said to be traveling from Doruwa to Ginga when the boat capsized. Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the local government council, Alhajo Aliyu Dantine Shagari, said eight of the victims were married women and the remaining five were children and elderly men. Gunmen have hijacked a school bus at Oba Ile Estate, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. Although no pupil was on board, the attackers were said to have whisked away an official of the school who was on her way to pick up pupils from their homes on Thursday morning. Palpable fear have enveloped Lamba village, Asa local government area of Kwara state as gunmen killed Fulani head, Alhaji Abdullahi Hardo Buruku in the early hours of Wednesday. No fewer than 60 residents of Izzi, Ekile Ward of Ado Local Government Area of Benue State were killed by suspected Fulani Herdsmen during the weekend. Governor Ortom’s Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu confirmed this on Tuesday while addressing hundreds of residents who were displaced as a result of the attack. Four people have been killed in what the police in Ebonyi described as IPOB members and armed robbers’ attacks in the state. The police command added that it arrested six suspected IPOB members. The Chief Provost of Nigerian Immigration Service, Imo State Command, Okiemute Mrere, has been assassinated. Mrere was murdered on Saturday night on Owerri- Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, our correspondent learnt on Monday.
