City Boy Movement Appoints New Officers to Strengthen Structure in Abia
The Abia State chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) has announced the appointment of new officers as part of efforts to strengthen its operational structure and enhance coordination of its activities across the state.
The appointments were approved by the Abia State Director of the movement, Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu.
According to the announcement, Hon. Iheanyi Philip Okparaocha, popularly known as Orlando, has been appointed Special Adviser on Special Duties to the State Director. In this role, he is expected to provide advisory support and assist in strengthening the operational and strategic direction of the movement in Abia State.
Also appointed is Lucky Weng as Protocol Officer. In this capacity, he will coordinate official engagements of the movement and ensure professionalism, order and proper conduct during its activities.
Similarly, Comrade Frank Eme Orji has been named Research and Policy Officer. He will work closely with the State Director to provide research support, policy analysis and strategic insights aimed at deepening the intellectual and policy base of the organisation.
In addition, Hon. Chibuike Peter Onyeulo, popularly known as Ceejay Rambo, has been appointed Provost Officer. He will be responsible for maintaining order and discipline within the organisation and ensuring that members operate in line with the constitution and guiding principles of the movement.
Speaking on the appointments, Igbokwe expressed confidence in the capacity and commitment of the appointees, noting that their emergence would further strengthen the structure and effectiveness of the City Boy Movement in Abia State.
He congratulated the new officers and urged them to bring their experience, dedication and loyalty to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The appointments, according to a statement issued by the Abia State Publicity Secretary of the movement, Eric Ikwuagwu, take immediate effect.
The City Boy Movement emerged as a political mobilisation platform during the 2023 general election campaign in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The name gained prominence after Tinubu famously referred to himself as a “city boy” while addressing supporters during the campaign, a phrase that quickly resonated with many of his followers across the country.
Since then, the movement has grown into a nationwide political support network that mobilises grassroots support, particularly among young Nigerians, while promoting civic participation and engagement with government policies.
Although not a political party, the movement aligns closely with the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) and supports the programmes and policy direction of the current administration.
The group has played a significant role in grassroots political mobilisation in Nigeria, helping to organise supporters, promote political awareness and coordinate campaign activities across various states.
In Abia State, the movement has continued to expand its presence through community engagement, youth mobilisation and political advocacy, with leaders expressing confidence that the new appointments will further strengthen its organisational structure and effectiveness across the state.
