The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State has launched its Membership Mobilisation, Registration and Revalidation (MMRR) exercise, declaring that there will be no room for factional politics within the party.

According to PUO, who provided the details of the event, the exercise took place on Saturday at the Kolping Society in Umuahia and forms part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and expand its grassroots presence across the state.

In his opening remarks, the National Chairman of the party, Senator David Mark, represented by the National Welfare Secretary, Nkem Ukandu, described the exercise as a deliberate step to restructure and legitimise the party’s operations.

He stressed that the ADC would not impose candidates or bypass due process, noting that leadership positions and party tickets would be determined through credibility and merit.

“We are not unprepared or disorganised. We will not allow administrative bottlenecks to hinder the progress of the party,” he said.

He further assured members that leadership in Abia State would emerge through lawful and recognised procedures rather than individual claims or endorsements by stakeholders.

Chairperson of the Membership Mobilisation, Revalidation and Registration Committee, Dame Ngozi Onuoha Orji, said the exercise reflects the inclusive nature of the party. She noted that ADC provides a political home for all Nigerians regardless of background and urged members to abandon divisive tendencies.

She emphasised that unity remains essential for the party’s growth, adding that a divided political platform cannot achieve meaningful progress.

Delivering goodwill messages, former Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Suleiman Ukandu, described the ADC as a “political Messiah” and encouraged residents of the state to embrace the party’s programmes and manifesto.

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Uko Nkole, described the registration exercise as inclusive, comparing politics to a casket that must be carried by everyone together. He called for unity among members and urged vigilance in the democratic process.

In his vote of thanks, Etigwe Uwa, SAN, commended members for their strong participation and stated that proper party registration remains a key foundation for electoral success.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of a new national membership card, which will be distributed across all Local Government Areas and wards in Abia State. A new official party register was also presented, with party officials warning members to recognise only the authorised register issued to the 184 wards, each containing security identification numbers.

Among dignitaries present at the event were Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Mr Chinenye Igwe, Mr Kalu O. Kalu, Barrister Kanu O. Kanu, Chief Uchenna Okagbuo, Pastor Uchen Ndom, former Abia State Secretary to the State Government Dr Eme Okoro, Honourable Chinwendu Apugo, Rt. Hon. Eziuche Ubani, Barrister Suleiman Ukandu, Comrade Paul Ogechi Nwagbala, Barrister Longman Emeka Nwachukwu, Ugoeze Obioma, and several other party stakeholders.
