A former Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim is set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), The Whisperer has gathered.

Anyim, who is a founding member of the PDP in Ebonyi state, was also a former president of the Nigerian Senate.

“His supporters had earlier joined us. He is expected to formally join our us tomorrow. PDP is finished in Ebonyi state,” a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) told The Whisperer.

In April, 2024 loyalists of Anyim dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The loyalists who defected to the APC at the Ivo local government area headquarters included a former two-term House of Representatives member, Hon. Livinus Makwe, a former two-term House of Assembly member, Hon. Oliver Osi, and a former special assistant to governor David Umahi and deputy governorships candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections in the state, Hon Aja Nwabueze and thousands of their supporters.

On behalf of the decampees, Makwe expressed displeasure over the treatment meted on members of the PDP during the last general election by the leadership of the party adding that they were coming into the APC to strengthen and add value to the party.

He said they were attracted to APC because of Governor Nwifuru’s style of leadership, which they argued has united the state.

Recall the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha, had on June 30, 2024 claimed that the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), will join the party.

According to Emegha, APC has made an effort to bring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Leader into the party and he accepted to join the party.

He claimed that the development gave the party the chance to use Anyim’s pictures in the local government and councilorship elections APC rally held in Ivo, the former ex-SGF’s local government, yesterday.
