Igbokwe Visits FCE Ofeme-Ohuhu, Pledges Support for Development
The State Director of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Abia State Chapter, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, has visited the Federal College of Education (FCE), Ofeme-Ohuhu, Umuahia, where he pledged support for the growth and development of the institution.
Igbokwe, who was received by the management, staff and students, said education remains a critical pillar for societal advancement and assured the college of his commitment to contribute to its progress.
The Registrar of the institution, Lady F.C.N. Ibe, who received the delegation on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Titus Sunday Ezeme, described the visit as encouraging. She noted that the college, though established barely three years ago, is already making steady progress among emerging institutions.
Also speaking, the College Librarian, Mr. Bulus Caleb Damen, commended Igbokwe for his contributions to media development, particularly through the establishment of radio stations that have impacted the community.
Damen, however, highlighted some of the institution’s challenges, including inadequate laptops and computer systems, lack of staff transportation, poor road access, irregular electricity supply and the need for solar power solutions. He also appealed for scholarships for students, many of whom rely on external sponsorship.
Responding, Igbokwe said the CBM in Abia State would consider supporting the college’s transportation needs under its upcoming empowerment programme. He added that his Donlulu Foundation would donate laptops to support academic and administrative work.
The CBM director also disclosed his intention to contest for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency seat, noting that if elected, he would prioritise the rehabilitation of the road leading to the college.
He further pledged to personally support infrastructural development in the institution, including the construction of a hall and additional classrooms.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar appreciated Igbokwe for the visit and his commitments, describing him as a visionary leader with a passion for educational development.
Igbokwe was accompanied by the CBM State Treasurer, Hon. Kanu Chiwendu, and his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chief Orlando Iheanyi Okparaocha.
