The defection spree from the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems unrelenting as a chieftain of the party and a former governorship aspirant in Cross River State, Chief Patrick Okomiso has announced his defection to the Labour Party.

Chief Okomiso’s decision came barely 72 hours after another chieftain and member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Daniel Asuquo defected to Labour Party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In an interview with newsmen in Abuja, the Security expert and politician says his decision to dump the APC for LP was to properly align with his people in emerging Nigeria.

According to him, “the major reason why I’m in politics is to better the lot of the people as any political party that cannot afford me such opportunity does not deserve my membership” he declared.

On why he has chosen to pursue his aspiration on the platform of the Labour Party, the former Cross River State governorship aspirant said, parties do not win elections but people as there is nothing like a big or small party.

While expressing confidence on Prof. Yakubu Mahmud-led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair and credible elections, he said unlike previous elections in the Country, Nigerians’ votes will count in 2023.

According to him, if elected Senator, Okomiso said he will use the instrumentality of Government to find a lasting solution to the communal clashes currently ravaging Cross River Central Senatorial District among other legislative bills he has carefully outlined that would benefit the people.

He however declared his continuous support to the Governor Ben Ayade Administration and the zoning of Cross River State Governorship to the South for fairness, equity and fair play.
