Hon. Mosco Ukoha Kalu Ofon, has picked the nomination and expression of interest forms of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to contest the House of Assembly seat for Ohafia South State Constituency in 2023.
He obtained the forms at the party secretariat in Umuahia on Tuesday afternoon.
Ofon, a grassroot politician and founder of Ohafia Vanguard for Equity was equally screened and cleared as the consensus candidate of the party.
Recall THE WHISPERER had reported that Ofon resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, citing irregularities in the party as his reason for defecting.
Ofon announced his decision to leave the party in a letter addressed to the PDP chairman in his Ania Ohafia Ward and made available to THE WHISPERER on Monday evening.
Ukoha said he is leaving the party with immediate effect as a result of “some irregularities ongoing in the party”.
“I humbly write to inform you of my withdrawal from participating in the Primary Election of our Party for the State House of Assembly scheduled to hold on Tuesday 24th May, 2022 and also resignation of my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“This decision was necessitated by some irregularities ongoing in the party, imposition of candidates and lack of confidence in the party’s ability to conduct a free, fair and transparent primary election.
“I regret to make this known to you, but seem to see this as the best decision for me and my esteemed supporters.”
