Three Dowen College students arrested over Sylvester Oromoni’s death
Three students of Dowen College are being grilled by the Lagos state police command in connection to the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.
Sources close to the family confirmed the development to TheCable Lifestyle on Tuesday morning.
Hakeem Odumosu, the state commissioner of police, also revealed that three out of the five students mentioned by the deceased are already in custody.
Before his death, Oromoni had named five students who he claimed had attacked him in his dormitory room, inflicting on him multiple internal injuries.
The commissioner also added that the suspects are assisting the police in their investigation.
Dowen College, situated in Lekki, Lagos, has been in the eye of the storm since the demise of the 12-year-old boy.
The student’s father had earlier told TheCable Lifestyle that his child was beaten and fed a liquid chemical.
But the school dismissed the claim, alleging that he sustained injuries while playing football with his colleagues.
Odumosu had earlier ordered an investigation into Oromoni’s death while Dowen College was also sealed off last Sunday.
On Monday, Femi Falana, human rights lawyer, called for a coroner’s inquest into the circumstances surrounding Oromoni’s demise.
Nigerians have also continued to demand justice for the deceased on social media platforms.
