Ala-Abia Developmental Initiative (ADI), has threatened to sue Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai if he fails to declare for Abia 2023 governorship.
This is coming amidst speculations that the seasoned technocrat has 2023 governorship ambition.
The group stated this in a statement through its National Coordinator, Comrade Amanze Nwankwo, while describing Ukpai as a seasoned administrator with the requisite capacity and knowledge and integrity to reposition and develop Abia state.
He said if Ukpai fails to contest, a suit would be instituted to compel him to vie for the governorship position.
Nwankwo described Ukpai as a man of integrity, a gifted and trusted personality that can help move Abia forward.
According to him, some politicians who are parading themselves as aspirants can only be described as opportunists who have nothing to offer the state and so are bent on destroying the State because they have selfish interest and do not care about Abia people.
He said, “We need a seasoned administrator – technocrat like Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai to pilot the affairs of Abia state in 2023. We are ready to mobilize our members across the state to compel him to declare his interest.”
“If he fails to declare his interest, we may be left with no choice than to sue Dr Ukpai should he fail to declare to contest the 2023 governorship election.
He added, “We support Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai and are begging him to do the needful by declaring now. We are going to give him 100% of our support to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.”
Nwankwo said that his group is committed to the actualisation of Ukpai’s governorship project if he declares interest because of his records as a tested trusted leader and entrepreneur, and as an intellectual who will serve Abians.
Nwankwo further said that the group wanted Dr Ukpai to contest the governorship election because of his track records in different fields of endeavour, and particularly his ability to manage human and material resources.
“Dr Ukpai is a shining example of what a servant leader should be. He is currently the Chairman and CEO Hocihatt Ltd, PH; He was Managing Director, Smart Drilling Services; Founder, LEGOG Foundation, and
former Vice President, Mben Political Assembly.
“He did not only carve a niche for himself in industry but also in organizations he led making everyone around him proud and blessed. We are convinced that if he becomes governor, Ukpai will look after Abia people and place Abia State in the global map.”
“We are supporting him because he is a gentleman, a man of integrity and we are ever ready to follow him to any party of his choice,” Nwankwo stated.
