President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Asabe Vilita Bashir as the new Director General of the National Center for Women Development, NCWD. The appointment was announced by the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen . The new DG takes over the leadership of the NCWD on Monday, 12 April. Ms Bashir was born in Limankara community, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. She obtained her first degree in Chemistry and Mathematics in 1988 from University of Maiduguri and obtained PhD in Educational Philosophy. She was elected into Borno State House of Assembly in 1997.

Senator Sati Davies Gogwim, who represented Plateau Central in the Senate between 2007 and 2011, has passed on at the age of 71. He died Wednesday at Mayfield Medical Hospital, Jos, the state capital after an undisclosed ailment. Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has alleged that there is no government in Nigeria.
