President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Asabe Vilita Bashir as the new Director General of the National Center for Women Development, NCWD. The appointment was announced by the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen . The new DG takes over the leadership of the NCWD on Monday, 12 April. Ms Bashir was born in Limankara community, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. She obtained her first degree in Chemistry and Mathematics in 1988 from University of Maiduguri and obtained PhD in Educational Philosophy. She was elected into Borno State House of Assembly in 1997.  

Member, National Governing Council of the Africa Union Development Agency(AUDA-NEPAD), Hon Edozie Madu on Thursday, met with the Anambra State Executive of the  APC in Awka to officially declare his intention to fly the party's flag in the November 6th Governorship election in the State. Madu was received at the Anambra APC secretariat by members of the State Executive led by the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike. Nigerians Questions Tinubu's Mental Fitness As He Goofs, Calls Dolapo Osinbajo ‘Wife Of The President’ The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, goofed while delivering a speech during the book launch of First Lady Aisha Buhari’s biography titled, “Aisha Buhari: Being Different”. Tinubu, who was chairman of the occasion, inadvertently referred to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s wife, Dolapo, as “wife of the president”. The gaffe quickly sent social media into frenzy as some Nigerians questioned Tinubu’s mental fitness ahead of 2023 presidential election. Watch video:  

Senator Sati Davies Gogwim, who represented Plateau Central in the Senate between 2007 and 2011, has passed on at the age of 71. He died Wednesday at Mayfield Medical Hospital, Jos, the state capital after an undisclosed ailment. THE WHISPERER gathered that the deceased recently returned from the United Kingdom after receiving treatment for the ailment before he eventually passed on in Jos. In his condolence message, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong expressed sadness over Senator Godwin’s death, describing him as a patriotic Nigerian who gave the nation and Plateau State his very best at all times.    

Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has alleged that there is no government in Nigeria. Gana said this when he, alongside many of his supporters, returned the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday. In March 2018, Gana, a member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, had dumped the party for the Social Democratic Party.
