The Presidency has confirmed the defection of the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress. This is according to a Facebook post by Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, on Sunday. “So Zamfara is back home, Welcome Matawalle,” the post read. The defection has, however, not been confirmed by the governor who, back in April, was visited by six PDP governors, a move to persuade him from joining the APC. A former Senator, Andy Uba, has been declared winner of the Anambra governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress held Saturday. Despite controversy surrounding the primary, officials said Mr Uba defeated 13 other aspirants to emerge the party’s governorship candidate in the coming November 6 election. The chairman of the APC primary election panel and governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, announced the outcome of the poll at Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake, Awka, early on Sunday. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has called for the postponement of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State. One of the Anambra Governorship Aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emeka Etiaba has withdrawn from the race few hours to the party’s primaries. Addressing the press, the aspirant accused the party of bringing in what he described as unidentified statutory delegates through the back door.
