A federal lawmaker representing Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Adedayo Omolafe, popularly known as “Expensive”, has passed away. It was gathered that Omolafe, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, died in around 2am on Monday at his residence in Abuja. The Peoples Democratic Party has filed a suit against Governor of Yobe State, Mala Mai Buni, and his deputy, demanding their sack from office over Buni’s appointment as Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, which it said was a breach of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended a chapter chairman for openly criticising Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari. Chairman of the APC in Yola South, Suleiman Adamu, was on Tuesday suspended after a viral audio, in which he allegedly criticised President Buhari and pledged allegiance to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, surfaced. A press release issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mohammed Abdullahi, states that the APC was disturbed by the audio. Former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje, has concluded plans to defect from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. According to sources close to the Senator, arrangements have been concluded for Goje’s defection. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Senator Uche Ekwunife as the Chairperson of the Valentine Ozigbo Governorship Campaign Council. The lawmaker represents Anambra Central at the National Assembly. Her appointment was announced Sunday evening during a briefing at the residence of Uche Secondus, PDP National Chairman.
