The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the recommendations of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led Zoning Committee, which recommended that the next national chairman of the party should come from the north. National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed the position of the NEC to newsmen after its meeting, held in Abuja on Thursday. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zonal Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has been suspended from the party. A communique issued at the end of its meeting at the PDP Secretariat in Auchi, Etsako West local government area said they also suspended the Edo North Senatorial Chairman of the party, Hon Samuel Saiki and the local government chairmen of five out of the six councils that make up Edo North. Two lawmakers in the Anambra State House of Assembly have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmakers, Mr. Douglas Egbuna, (Onitsha North l Constituency), and Mr. Onyebuchi Offor (Ekwusigo Constituency), announced their defection at plenary in Awka, on Wednesday, NAN reports. A top politician in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Honourable Tanko Bitrus Kura, is dead. Hon. Kura from Jikowyi, Abuja was once a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship flagbearer in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). He is said to have passed on on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was former PDP FCT Capacity Secretary, and ex-officio at national level. His family is yet to speak on his death though.
