Four hundred and one chairmen and members of caretaker committees running Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Osun State have all resigned their positions. Those that resigned include; 69 caretaker chairmen and 332 caretaker members drawn from each of the 332 wards in the state. Umar Zulum Umara, son of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has been arrested for killing a Chinese national during a fight over a woman at a nightclub in India. Umara, a student at a university in New Delhi, reportedly smashed a bottle of alcoholic drink on the Chinese man who showed interest in the same lady as the governor's son. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) says Nigeria has not been exempted from the customary visa application process. On Monday, Nigerians were thrilled to read that the three-year travel ban from the UAE had been lifted. But their joy evaporated when Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, said the resolution had conditions that were “mutually beneficial”. Part of the conditions include obtaining a document verification number (DVN). Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Philip Shaibu as Deputy Governor of Edo State months after he was removed from the position. In a judgment, Justice Omotoso said the impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly was illegal and unconstitutional. The judge held that the impeachment was in gross violation of the Constitution, Channels TV reported. A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, has passed on. Hon. Ekene was confirmed dead early Tuesday morning by his wife. The outspoken lawmaker who was until his death was the Chairman House Committee on Sports, had battled ill-health in recent times. His death occured few days after his former colleague from Oyo Olajide Akinremi Jagaban passed on. Hon. Ekene represented Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna state in the House of Representatives.
