Appeal Court Overturns Nullification Of Diri’s Election As Bayelsa Governor

A five-man panel of the Appellate Court has overturned a ruling which nullified the election of Douye Diri as governor of Bayelsa State. The court held that the Bayelsa Election Petition Tribunal acted outside its jurisdiction by nullifying the election of Governor Diri. In a unanimous judgment, the five-man panel of the court said the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party failed woefully to show that it had a valid candidate that was unlawfully excluded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). BREAKING: Nigerian govt orders school reopening October 12

The Federal Government has announced the full reopening of 104 Unity Schools across the country from October 12. The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who made the announcement at a press conference, said State Governments and private school owners are at liberty to reopen anytime from the said date. According to him, the reopening should be based on guidelines developed for the safe reopening of schools. He urged the colleges to abide by the COVID-19 protocol guidelines developed to curtail the spread of the virus. The Minister threatened to shut down any school that fails to obey the protocols.

The Federal Executive Council has approved a budget estimate of N13.08trn for the 2021 fiscal year. The fiscal document was approved at a meeting of the council on Wednesday presided over by the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
