Fifteen beheaded bodies were on Tuesday morning found dumped at Five Miles area on the outskirt of Calabar, capital of Cross Rivers state. The dead bodies comprising both males and females were dumped in a steep valley along the double carriageway under construction, Vanguard reports. A police officer was shot while trying to foil the abduction of some of Tungan-Maje community in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja on Tuesday morning. A resident of the area, Ibrahim Saidu, said the gunmen in their numbers went on rampage as they engaged both the police and some members of the vigilante in a shootout. Bandits on Monday morning attacked Wawan Rafi II village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, leaving two people dead. The two persons killed were identified as Joshua Dauda and his seven-year-old son Philip Dauda. Also, seven houses, one car and a motorcycle were burnt in the attack. Governors of the south-east region have announced the setup of a joint security outfit, codenamed Ebube Agu. The governors announced this in a communique issued after a meeting held in Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Sunday. “The meeting resolved to maintain a joint security vigilante for the South East otherwise known as Ebube Agu,” the communique reads. “The meeting appreciated the formation of South East joint security outfit co. Named Ebubeagu. Headquarters in Enugu to coordinate our vigilante in the South East.”  

He alleged that the two groups were sponsoring a new wave of extremism that could ignite ethnic conflict so as to achieve their aims of dividing the country.
