The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it foiled a jailbreak attempt by inmates at the prison in Ubiaja, Esan South East local government area. In Benin, Richard Ogbebor, spokesman for the NSCDC, disclosed that the attempted jailbreak occurred from 15:00 hours to 17:00 hours on Wednesday. Mr Ogbebor explained that the corps received a distress call on the attempted jailbreak and subsequently mobilised its operatives led by Samuel Ogbeide, an Assistant Superintendent of Corps 1, to the facility. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked the Goh community, Km4 along Naka-Agagbe road in Gwer-West LGA of Benue State killing six residents and whisking away others to an unknown destination, THE WHISPERER has learned. Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Monday slumped before being revived during an official assignment in Sokoto, THE WHISPERER has learned. According to a report by THE WILL, He was immediately surrounded by anxious aides and dignitaries who raised him up from the ground after successfully reviving him. Malami, who recently returned from an official visit to Turkey was in Sokoto for the inauguration of the reconstructed State High Court complex. The police have arrested and arraigned a trader, Abba Shekarau, in an Upper Area Court, Mpape, Abuja, over a stolen church drum. The police charged Shekarau, 42, of Dutse Panteka, Abuja, with one count of receiving stolen property. The prosecution counsel, Stanley Nwaforaku, told the court that the complainant, Ajiboye Kayode of Power Deliverance Ministry, Duste Apo, reported the matter. Graphics Content: 8 Unidentified Bodies Consisting of 7 males, 1 female evacuated from valley along Calabar-Odukpani Road  Yesterday, 8 bodies were discovered dumped in the Five Miles region on the outskirts of Calabar. THE WHISPERER reported the dead bodies, which included both males and females, were deposited in a steep valley along the double carriageway under construction. As at time of this report, the names of the remains, as well as those who may have dumped them there, is yet to be determined.  

A former Military Administrator of Oyo State, Colonel Ahmed Usman, is dead. He was said to have died around 3.00am on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, during an illness. It was gathered his remains were being moved to his village, Okura-Lafia, Kogi State for burial according to Muslim rites. Usman was military administrator of Ondo State from August 1994 to August 1996. He governed Oyo from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.

A gas explosion has rocked the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State. The gas explosion was said to have happened around 7pm on Tuesday at Iyasoko street, Agboju, Amuwo-Odofin. Nosa Okunbor, spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said officials of the agency were on their way to the scene. As of the time of the report, it was not clear what caused the explosion. Some residents are said to have sustained varying degrees of injury while attempting to put out the fire.
