Bandits on Monday morning attacked Wawan Rafi II village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, leaving two people dead. The two persons killed were identified as Joshua Dauda and his seven-year-old son Philip Dauda. Also, seven houses, one car and a motorcycle were burnt in the attack. In a press statement, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said security patrols mobilised to the area forced the assailants to retreat into the forests. Governors of the south-east region have announced the setup of a joint security outfit, codenamed Ebube Agu. The governors announced this in a communique issued after a meeting held in Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Sunday. “The meeting resolved to maintain a joint security vigilante for the South East otherwise known as Ebube Agu,” the communique reads. “The meeting appreciated the formation of South East joint security outfit co. Named Ebubeagu. Headquarters in Enugu to coordinate our vigilante in the South East.”

A former minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr Mahmud Tukur, has died. He died in the early hours of Friday. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano and also a former director of Cadbury Nigeria. Close family members confirmed the death to THE WHISPERER. Dr Tukur was a close associate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
