President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Anambra State Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his victory at the just concluded governorship election. The president made this known on Wednesday via a post on his verified Facebook page. The president also commended the security operatives hitherto deployed to the state for ensuring the safety of residents during the exercise despite perceived security threats. The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was on Wednesday brought to court by officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) for his trial. Kanu was brought into the courtroom amid heavy security. This was made known by Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Kanu adding that the IPOB leader arrived court at about 7am on Wednesday. Heavily armed security operatives have turned back journalists from entering the court premises. Two persons have been killed at a traditional marriage ceremony in Uquo community, Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State after unknown gunmen stormed the event. Mr Usoro Akpanusoh, representing PDP, Esit Eket/Ibeno at the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Esit Eket on Tuesday.
