Barely 13 days to the expiration of the 9th Senate, Senators Matthew Urhoghide (Edo South) and Ayo Akinyelure (Ondo Central) on Wednesday dumped their political platform, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Urhoghide and Akinyelure, who announced their resignation during plenary, however did not announce the party they will defect to. The newly inaugurated Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has directed the immediate suspension of all transport levies hitherto imposed on tricycles (keke), buses, taxis and other commercial vehicles plying Abia roads. The directive, according to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, takes immediate effect.
