The Rivers State government has directed the redeployment of the clerk of the state assembly, Emeka Amadi and Deputy Clerk, HOD Legislative Department, Calistus Ojirika. In a letter dated November 20, the state government’s head of civil service asked Messrs Amadi and Ojirika to transfer over to the most senior officials at the Rivers State parliament. The average cost of preparing a pot of jollof rice for a Nigerian family of five has more than tripled within seven years, according to a new Jollof Index report. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has suspended the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Hon. Noble Atulegwu, with immediate effect. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the election of Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule. The appellate court also set aside the October 2 judgement of the Nasarawa State Election Petitions Tribunal that sacked APC’s Sule and declared David Ombugadu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the governorship election. Delivering judgement, the three-member panel, led by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, held that the tribunal erred in law in concluding that Governor Sule did not win majority of the votes cast in the election. The Court further held that the Governor was denied fair hearing.
