The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Thursday dismissed an appeal brought before it by Hon. Emeka Nnamani against the tribunal judgment that declared Hon. Alex Ikwechegh as the winner and duly elected Reps member for the Aba North & South Federal Constituency. The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital led by Justice Adeyinka Aderibgbe had in September disqualified Nnamani over falsification of academic certificate. The Court of Appeal, Lagos Division has dismissed the appeal filled by Mao Ohuabunwa challenging the tribunal judgment affirming the victory of Orji Uzor Kalu as the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District. The court on Thursday ruled that appellants woefully failed to prove disenfranchisement, while the respondents proved that elections held in all polling units and tendered form EC40G to explain why there were no voting in the affected polling units. Another female student of the University of Port Harcourt has been found dead in her apartment in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. The student simply identified as Adaeze is said to be a 200-level undergraduate of Accounting. Adaeze’s lifeless body was found on Friday, in her off-campus residence in Aluu, a community near the university. The cause of her death could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report on Monday. The Appeal Court sitting in Lagos has affirmed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressive Congress (APC), as the winner of the Abia North Senatorial District election. The court, on Monday, dismissed the petitions by Nnamdi Iro Orji (Opotoyom) of the Labour Party, and Mao Ohuabunwa of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
