Tinubu appoints Rivers PDP chairman, Desmond Akawor, as RMAFC federal commissioner

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Desmond Akawor as the federal commissioner of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. Akawor is the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rivers state chapter. The average cost of preparing a pot of jollof rice for a Nigerian family of five has more than tripled within seven years, according to a new Jollof Index report. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the election of Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule. The appellate court also set aside the October 2 judgement of the Nasarawa State Election Petitions Tribunal that sacked APC’s Sule and declared David Ombugadu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the governorship election. Delivering judgement, the three-member panel, led by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, held that the tribunal erred in law in concluding that Governor Sule did not win majority of the votes cast in the election.
