Some contractors who executed road projects in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers States have alleged that they are being owed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The railway station in Gidan, Kaduna state, has been invaded by gunmen. Details of the attack which occurred on Tuesday are still sketchy, and it isn’t yet clear if there were casualties. Innocent Ajiji, president of the Nigeria Union of Railway Workers, confirmed the development to TheCable. “We are yet to determine the extent of damage,” he said. The incident comes hours after an attack on a train in Kaduna, which left several people dead and scores injured. Gunmen on Saturday morning razed the country home of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof George Obiozor, at Awo-Omanma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State. The PUNCH gathered that the attackers who arrived at the Igbo leader’s home in vehicles threw explosive devices at the house. It was learnt that Obiozor was not at home when his house was attacked. The Federal Government on Tuesday commenced another round of inspection of the pace of work currently ongoing on the Second Niger Bridge project The inspection is being done by the Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola; Minister of Labour and Employment Dr Chris Ngige, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, Uche Orji, and other top officials of government.
