BREAKING: 60 years after, UNILAG set to appoint first female VC

Bar any last-minute change, for the first time since its establishment 60 years ago, the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, is set to appoint a female substantive vice-chancellor. According to those familiar with the matter, the selection board of the governing council of the university is set to appoint Folasade Ogunsola, the first and only female provost of the university’s College of Medicine, as the new VC of the institution. Though the university has not made an official announcement on the appointment, some governing council members confirmed to Premium Times Friday evening that Mrs Ogunsola topped the list of contenders.…

ASUU reacts to Appeal Court’s ruling

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has said it would review the judgement of the Appeal Court that ordered the union to end its strike, to determine its next line of action. THE WHISPERER had reported that the appeal court on Friday ordered the union to return to work as earlier ordered by the National Industrial Court with immediate effect. NECO releases 2022 SSCE results

National Examinations Council, (NECO) has released this year’s Senior School CERTIFICATE Examinations, (Internal) results. The number of candidates who made Credit and above in the English language is 889,188 representing 74.89% while the number of candidates who made Credit and above in Mathematics is 929,140 representing 78.23%. The result also shows that the number of candidates who made five credits and above including English and Mathematics is 727,864 representing 60.74%. Total number of candidates who actually sat for the examination is. 1,198,412 out of 1,209,703 actually registered for the examinations.

Male students have taken to the streets of Bauchi on Monday to protest the separation of boys from girls in secondary schools. FG asks VCs to reopen universities — and resume lectures

The federal government has asked vice-chancellors to reopen universities and resume lectures. According to the Punch, the federal government gave the directive through the National Universities Commission (NUC) in a letter signed by Sam Onazi, director, finance and accounts of the NUC, on behalf of Abubakar Rasheed, executive secretary of the commission. The letter was said to have been addressed to all vice-chancellors; pro-chancellors and chairmen of governing councils of federal universities. “Ensure that ASUU members immediately resume/commence lectures; Restore the daily activities and routines of the various University campuses,” the letter reportedly reads.
