As defection and resignation festival in Cross River State continues, another Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade on Environment, Mr. Obeten Ewa Mkang (JP) has followed the tread of others to resign.

Mr. Obeten took the bow in a three paragraphs letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

His resignation followed the pattern of not less than five Commissioners and a host of other Aides who in bid to prove their loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) resigned.

His three paragraphs resignation letter reads: “I most respectfully, write to notify you of my decision to resign my appointment as your Special Adviser for Environment.

“I most sincerely want to thank you for the opportunity you gave me to serve the good people of Cross River State, as one of your Special Advisers. And may the good Lord grant you success in your future endeavors,” it ended.

There are allegations in some quarters that, Governor Ayade asked all his appointees to join him in defecting to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on what he calls “socketing to the centre.”

Governor Ayade recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said he took the decision in order to attract federal assistance to Cross Rivers.

He subsequently said that the personal character of President Muhammadu Buhari attracted him to the ruling party.
