Following the intrigues over the zoning of the Abia governorship position in 2023; a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Coordinator of PDP-Coalition, Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu, has said Abia North Senatorial District is capable of delivering votes to help any of the political parties win 2023 governorship election.

Kalu bared his mind against the backdrop of comments made by the member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, who questioned the numerical strength of Abia North Senatorial District to win elections.

Kalu, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, said no section of the state would be allowed to scuttle the existing zoning arrangement for 2023 governorship election in the state.

According to him, power shift among the three senatorial districts has come to stay in the state for the interest of fairness and equity.

Kalu who is also the Director General of Atikulated Agenda Campaign Group, noted that indigenes of Abia North across the state are capable of winning elections for any political party its chooses to support.

He appealed to political actors in the state to obey the current zoning arrangement by allowing Abia North to produce the next governor.

According to him, “zoning would help promote greater peace, unity and political stability in the state, wondering while a certain clan would want to cause confusion with regards to the zoning arrangement.

“It is wrong for a section of the state to come now and scuttle everything. Abia North should be supported in 2023. We have the numbers to deliver any party,” he said.
