Race For Abia Government House Intensifies As Group Plans Rally In Support Of Abia Governor of Ohafia Extraction

A Think Tank group from Ohafia, under the aegis of Mben Political Assembly (MPA), is planning to hold a massive awareness rally in support of their push to have a governor of Ohafia extraction succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

According to a statement jointly signed by MPA President, Arch. Lucas Uche Eme and Prince Henry Okpere Udo, Chairman, MPA Easter Homecoming Committee explained that  the rally  is to educate the populace  and awaken the consciousness within and outside Ohafia about the  preparedness and willingness  of the Ohafia people to succeed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in 2023.

According to the statement, the MPA is currently making inroads into the minds of who is who in Abia State and winning the support of their neighbours in the senatorial zone.

“In order to get an Abia State Governor of Ohafia extraction in 2023, the MPA has been championing a concerted integrated political advocacy including media blitz, stakeholders consultation, political research, grassroots mobilization, and dialogue.

“The MPA Easter Homecoming is one of these strategies, with the ultimate aim of increasing consciousness inside and outside Ohafia about ndeOhafia’s preparedness and willingness to take office in 2023.”

About the MPA

The MPA is a Political think Tank with the Mission of utilizing all available resources to connect qualified and well – groomed persons of Ohafia extraction to political power at Federal, State and Local Government levels, for the socioeconomic and political development of Ohafia and its citizens.

PROGRAM OF EVENTS FOR THE MPA EASTER HOMECOMING

DAY 1 – RALLY & CARNIVAL – Saturday 3rd April 2021
Homecoming rally with a Carnival train

ROUTE PLAN – (Nkwebi- Okagwe – Amaekpu – Elu – Ebem).
The team then splits into two – (One to Asaga – Nde Ibe – Amangwu – Okon – Amuke – Amuma – Ufiele – Asaga – Ebem). (The Other team, from Ebem – Akanu – Abia – Nde Uduma Awoke – Isiugwu – Ebem). Everybody gathers at Elu Central School to end the event.

Day 2 – Sunday 4th April 2021
SYMPOSIUM/SPEECHES/TALKS/DISCUSSIONS.

TheWhisperer had earlier reported that Ohafia Udumeze, which has the highest number of registered voters in Abia after Umuahia North and Obingwa councils, had during a civic reception for Ikpeazu at the peak of electioneering campaign sought his support to produce his successor.

The community had also used the occasion to ask for the support of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, other parties and politicians in the state to avoid “an impending orchestrated marginalization of the clan in the politics of the state.

A former Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Umeh Kalu, SAN, is  said to be in the race alongside UK- based technocrat cum environmental expert, Ukpai Iro Ukpai, Ph.D.
