Gov Otti to Grace Atuegwu Age Grade Ibanyi Ogo Ceremony in Ohafia
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, will on Monday serve as Special Guest of Honour at the Ibanyi Ogo ceremony of the Atuegwu Age Grade, Amaekpu–Ohafia.
The event is scheduled to hold on Monday, December 29, 2025, by 12 noon at Okpocha Square, Amaekpu–Ohafia, and will be chaired by Dr. Liberty O. Udochu.
In a press statement, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the age grade, Deacon Okwara Amogu, said the ceremony will attract dignitaries from across the country who will gather to witness what he described as the uncommon zeal of the Ohafia people toward community development.
According to Amogu, the Ibanyi Ogo ceremony is a precursor to the traditional retirement of members of the age grade from active community service, in line with the customs of the community.
He explained that as part of its retirement activities, the community has assigned a major development project to the age grade—a 1.1-kilometre cement concrete road with side drainages. The project, he said, was estimated to cost N85 million as of January 2025.
Amogu added that one of the major highlights of the ceremony will be the conferment of awards on notable patriots from Ohafia and beyond, who, from the private sector, have made significant contributions to the development of people and communities.
He expressed confidence that the presence of the governor and other distinguished guests would further underscore the importance of community-driven development initiatives in Abia State.
