Rep Ibe Okwara Osonwa Hails Gov. Otti’s Health, Education Reforms, Applauds Quality of Omenuko Bridge

The Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has commended Governor Alex Otti for his far-reaching reforms in Abia State, particularly in the health and education sectors.

In an exclusive interview with THE WHISPERER in Abuja on Wednesday, Osonwa said Governor Otti’s focus on revitalising healthcare and education is laying a strong foundation for sustainable development.

“Only a healthy person can thrive, work, and provide for their family. Any reform towards education and healthcare is ultimately a reform towards life,” he stated.

Osonwa noted the renovation of dilapidated primary healthcare centres across the state, including those in Ohafia, Arochukwu, and Abam, as well as efforts to strengthen the education sector from the primary to tertiary level.

He stressed that such investments are vital to preparing the youth for the future while maintaining stable healthcare services.

The lawmaker also praised Governor Otti’s infrastructural strides, particularly in road construction, which he described as crucial for Abia’s economic network and growth.

He further highlighted the governor’s success in attracting significant foreign capital investment, making Abia “a hotbed for both foreign and local investors.”

On the Omenuko Bridge project, Osonwa expressed admiration for its early completion and high-quality execution. He recalled how the colonial-era bridge, built in the 1920s/30s, had long served the people before the governor responded to their calls for a modern replacement.

“What is there not to be impressed about? The work was done ahead of time and to the expected quality. The governor heard the cry of the people and delivered exactly as he promised. He is our jinx breaker,” Osonwa said.

He also mentioned recent projects he facilitated in his constituency, including the commissioning of three new schools in Ohafia, Abam, and Nkporo, as well as a borehole in Ihechiowa. While assuring constituents of his commitment, he emphasised the importance of patience and process in development.

“We cannot meet all the needs at once, but what we said we would do, we are doing according to plan,” he concluded.
