2027: Tinubu Can’t Lose with Strong Allies Like Orji Uzor Kalu, Yari, Ganduje, Ibori—Lamido
The Pioneer Leader of Arewa Summit International, Dr. Bashir Lamido, has ruled out the possibility of incumbent President Ahmed Bola Tinubu losing re-election in 2027.
He stated that the strong backing of political heavyweights would make it practically impossible for Tinubu to lose.
Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the Abuja Expo and Ruhe Global Resources International Education Fair held on Wednesday in Abuja, Lamido named Abdul’aziz Yari, Orji Uzor Kalu, Abdullahi Ganduje, and James Ibori as prominent politicians whose cooperation with Tinubu would weaken the opposition and guarantee victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He questioned the capacity of the opposition coalition to form a united front ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.
According to Lamido, “When you talk about the possibility of the coalition wrestling power from the ruling party, I think you should also ask yourself a pertinent question—can they agree among themselves? The major opposition platforms, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), are seriously entangled in intense internal wrangling. Does the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have the strength to lead a coalition in 2027?”
Speaking further, he asked, “Who will fly the ticket? Is it Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi? Is it Nasir El-Rufai or Yemi Osinbajo? Is it Rotimi Amaechi or Bukola Saraki?” He argued that all of these politicians have presidential ambitions and are unwilling to relinquish their interests for one another.
“But you see,” he continued, “Tinubu is very smart and strategic. At a time when people thought that Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and Chief James Ibori were going to join the opposition to unseat the president, he was already consolidating his support. I heard that Nasir El-Rufai tried everything possible to create a rift between the president and Abdullahi Ganduje by sending him on an ambassadorial assignment to Saudi Arabia. Today, the president has closed ranks with them, and they are now his most reliable allies. These four men are presidential materials, yet they have already endorsed the president. With allies like them, Tinubu cannot lose.”
Expanding on his point, Lamido added, “The opposition coalition is yet to take a stand, while the president’s allies are already preparing the ground for victory. Yari is engaged in massive empowerment programs in the North, Kalu is doing the same in the South and even extending his influence to the North, and others are also strengthening the party’s structure. A presidential source once revealed that they meet with the president regularly. This shows direction, purpose, and a well-coordinated strategy for victory.”
On Tinubu’s economic performance, Lamido acknowledged that the president’s key reforms are causing hardship for ordinary Nigerians, many of whom are already struggling with difficult living conditions.
However, he argued that the economic difficulties are inevitable in the short term but maintained that, in the long run, the economy will become more robust and stable.
