The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief (Hon.) Ibe Okwara Osonwa (Oke Abba of Ohafia), on Monday joined prominent sons/daughters of Abiriba community including the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex to commission the Abiriba Roundabout Project built by the Isi-Udo Otutu Enyi ( Committee of Friends); agroup of friends from the Onarubi Age Grade of Abiriba ably headed by Chief Shaka Dimgba, the CEO Panyu Hotel and suites, Aba.
The Chairman of the Group, Chief Dimgba in his address said the project is a gift of love his group is giving to the Community in line with the dreams of the founding fathers of the land who initiated the otutu Enyi (Committee of Friends) precepts after the Igwa Mang ceremony as a means to keep contributing to community development till one retires from active community services.He added that The Roundabout Project is a unique architectural design with the tripod stand representing the three Communities that make up Abiriba and the project don’t just add beauty to the entrance to Abiriba but also depicts the trinity,unity and inseparable nature of Abiriba as every part of the project tells a fascinating story about the Abiriba uniqueness and oneness.
Chief Dr David Ogba Bourdex, the Chairman of the occasion thanked them for the project and urged them and other social groups(otutu Enyi) to collaborate and synergize with the local Government to help serve the people better through public and private partnership.
Chief Bourdex then called on the member representing Ohafia Arochukwu federal constituency, Hon. Chief Ibe Okwara to cut the tape on his behalf to officially commission the project. Hon Ibe Okwara, thanked the Social Group for the landmark project which has become the face of the community and assured the Community of his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
The Abiriba Communal Improvement Union, ACIU, General President, Chief Charles Ejieke Ezikpe in his address aulogised the sterling and problem-solving initiative and projects of the Isi-udo otutu Enyi that the project will help to control vehicular movement and traffic at the Abiriba junction and prevent accident. He used the opportunity to thank all the various social Groups(Otutu Enyi) for being active in services for community development especially in road construction and provision of social amenities.
The occasion was graced by the member representing Ohafia North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Mandela Obasi, members of Otutu Enyi (Committee of Friends) from Abiriba, traditional rulers, the leadership of Abiriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU), and other dignitaries from the community.
