Senator Prince Bassey Otu, who represented Cross River southern senatorial district in the 7th senate has emerged consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State, THE WHISPERER has learnt.
The agreement which was reached on Monday night at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja had in attendance the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, Cross River state APC Chairman, Barr Alphonsus Eba, members of the state Exco, as well as all governorship aspirants.
Highly reliable source told our reporter that the choice of Sen. Otu as the APC governorship candidate for the 2023 election in the state was unanimous.
“it was an unanimous decision by all present. APC in Cross River State is one and we are ready to face the main election” the source said.
With this, Sen. Otu will be contesting against a yet to be decided candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
The APC leadership in the state had earlier set up a seven man committee to prune the number of Governorship aspirants vying to succeed governor Ben Ayade. The committee headed by Sen. Ndoma Egba met last week and temporarily suspended its result until now.
Sen. Otu who has a massive followership across political party lines in the state will be expected to pull his large followership to retain power in the APC come 2023.
