The Abia State Chapter of the largest Youth Political Party in Nigeria, Youth Democratic Party of Nigeria (YDPN) has said it will not condone the marginalisation meted on Youths by the present ruling political parties in Nigeria.
The Abia State Party Chairman, Comr. Anthony Ekwubiri, while expressing his dissatisfaction to news men on the appointment of 27 Commissioner Nominees by the State Governor on Friday 8th October at Umuahia said ” This appointment made by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, shows that the state government does not have the interest of Abia Youths at heart, as the appointment is being intended to the continual marginalisation of the youths in the state.
“We will no longer tolerate the recycling of Abia State political appointments among persons who have been in governance for decades with negligible impact made.”
How can the governor be appointing people that are retired and tired as commissioners? Commissioner is a workaholic appointment that needs youthful energy and vitality; the state party chairman added.
I’m even surprised to see that an over-aged man who ought to be resting in his house at his old age is been appointed Commissioner of Youth affairs; a position which is supposed to be headed by a Youth. This is rather unfortunate.
Also contributing, the State Media and Publicity Chairman, Comrade. Okereke Nnamdi Nwafor said; “We will no longer tolerate the recycling of old government officials who have never made any impact to the state since their inclusion in governance . Abians, you can now see that these people are not ready to change. The high level of God fatherlism in the state has been the root of our problems and this must not continue.
“Abia Youths should wake up and see that all the present political parties in Nigeria have no room for the Youths as the only time they remember youths is when elections are approaching”
“This appointment is a proof that PDP has no place for the youths of the state. We therefore call on all Abia youths to take advantage of the e-registration platform of YDPN (www.ydpnofficial.com), the first of its kind, with e-voting system for primary elections to mobilize and challenge these inequities in governance in Nigeria as led by APC and PDP over 22years now.”
