Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s aide, Sunny Idika, says the former Abia State governor and current lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District is firmly positioned to retain his seat in the 2027 general election, citing what he described as a strong and verifiable record of performance across the zone.
Idika said democratic choices are guided by results rather than promises. According to him, the reward for good performance in a democracy is the renewal of mandate, and in Abia North, that reward is already evident in public support for the senator.
Education, he noted, remains central to Senator Kalu’s interventions. Over 120 classroom blocks have been constructed or renovated across Abia North, with desks supplied and complete textbooks provided, particularly in science and technology subjects. He added that more than 20 young people from the district are currently studying Medicine and Surgery in different parts of the world through education-linked support facilitated by the senator’s foundation.
Idika said many beneficiaries of the free education programmes covering textbooks, uniforms, sandals and meals are now adults and registered voters who remember the support given to them and their families at critical times.
On infrastructure, the aide said communities across Arochukwu/Ohafia, Bende, Isikwuato and Umunneochi local government areas have benefited from road projects linked to the senator. In some cases, he said the roads were the first tarred access routes in the history of those communities. Rural electrification projects and health centres, he added, have also been delivered across the district.
He further stated that all former Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) wards in Abia North have benefited from constituency projects, with at least two to three renovated schools in each ward, stressing that the projects are visible and verifiable.
Idika also pointed to the senator’s leadership style, describing him as a peaceful and non-interfering leader who stays clear of chieftaincy disputes, town union elections and traditional rulership matters. According to him, this approach has helped sustain peace and unity in the zone.
On economic development, the aide said Senator Kalu helped attract about 500 million dollars in foreign direct investment to Abia North. He cited the cashew processing factory in Igbere, which is already operational, a solar light manufacturing factory under construction, the first of its kind in Abia State, and a proposed tricycle assembly plant aimed at supporting transport business and youth employment. He added that large cassava, cocoa and other agricultural projects are spread across the district.
As the 2027 election approaches, Idika said the people of Abia North are asking simple questions about who has delivered tangible results. He maintained that improvements in education, infrastructure, job creation and peace across the district place Senator Kalu in a strong position ahead of the polls.
