The United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP) has joined prominent voices across Nigeria and Africa in celebrating former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, on the occasion of his 68th birthday.

In a goodwill message issued on Wednesday, the Chairman of UAAP and celebrated Nigerian wrestling icon, Ambassador Osita Offor, hailed Jonathan as “a continental statesman whose humility, democratic credentials, and peace mission work have enriched Africa’s political landscape.”

Ambassador Offor, widely known as “The Ultimate Commander” and honoured with the revered chieftaincy title Ikenga Gburugburu Ohafia is one of Nigeria’s most decorated wrestlers.

He transitioned from a successful global sporting career into civic leadership and advocacy. Today, he is recognised not only for his exploits in the ring but also for his strong voice in promoting unity, good governance, and cultural identity in Abia State and beyond.

Offor praised Jonathan for his historic sacrifice during the 2015 presidential election, describing it as “a lesson in patriotism that future leaders must study and emulate.”

He noted that Jonathan’s exemplary concession preserved Nigeria’s unity at a critical moment and became a global reference point for peaceful democratic transitions.

He further commended the former President’s ongoing mediation efforts across West and Central Africa, saying Jonathan’s commitment to conflict resolution has continued to bring stability to troubled regions. According to him, “Jonathan’s peace missions reflect Nigeria’s best qualities—leadership, diplomacy, and responsibility to the continent.”

Highlighting UAAP’s values, Offor said the organisation stands firmly for patriotism, development, and the upliftment of Abia’s creative and civic communities. Principles he believes Jonathan’s legacy strongly aligns with.

He urged youths to draw inspiration from Jonathan’s humility, diplomacy, and unwavering dedication to national unity.

The UAAP Chairman prayed for God’s continued guidance and long life for the former President as he continues his global engagements in democracy strengthening and peacebuilding.
