COSEYL Endorses Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for Third Term in Abia North

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex socio-political youth organisation in the South East, has declared its full support for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s bid to return to the Senate for a third term in 2027.

Speaking at a press conference, COSEYL President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, said the endorsement reflects the overwhelming appreciation of the people of Abia North for the developmental strides recorded under Senator Kalu’s representation.

According to Ibem, Kalu’s tenure has been marked by transformative projects and policies that have touched lives across the senatorial district, bringing development to the grassroots and addressing the real needs of constituents.

The group dismissed a recent communiqué issued by some individuals under the name “Ohafia Stakeholders,” insisting the statement did not reflect the true position of the Ohafia people.

“The so-called ‘Ohafia Stakeholders’ do not speak for the collective voice of the people. Their self-serving interests do not represent the communities of Ohafia, who have given Senator Kalu overwhelming support,” Ibem said.

COSEYL pointed out that Ohafia already occupies key political positions, including the Deputy Governorship of Abia State held by Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and the House of Representatives seat for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency held by Chief Ibe Okwara.

The coalition also drew a parallel with the late Senator Uche Chukwumerije from Umunneochi, who served 12 years in the Senate, noting that the people of Abia North now want Senator Kalu to continue because of his “dynamic and transformational performance.”

“One good term deserves another, and Senator Kalu’s record speaks for itself. We urge all political actors and citizens to ignore divisive politics and rally behind him so that the progress we have made will continue,” Ibem added.

The statement was jointly signed by Comrade Goodluck Ibem, President General, and Comrade Okey Nwaoru, Publicity Secretary.
