Senator Kalu Sympathises with Families of Air India Crash in Ahmedabad; Writes India, UK, Canada, and Portugal

International business magnate and consummate politician, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has sympathised with the families and nationals of India, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Portugal following the tragic Air India crash that claimed several lives.

Reports confirm that a London-bound Air India flight carrying 242 passengers and crew members crashed in the Meghani area of Ahmedabad, near the city’s airport, on Thursday afternoon.

The aircraft, a Boeing Dreamliner, took off around 1:47 pm, slightly behind schedule. According to officials, it crashed just nine minutes after being given clearance for take-off.

Senator Kalu, who serves in Nigeria’s National Assembly, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as “heartbreaking and traumatic news to hear.”

In letters addressed separately to the governments of the four affected countries via their respective envoys, the former governor extended his condolences and support.

“I have been desperately shocked by the terrible events in Ahmedabad, India, today. Our special prayers and deepest possible sympathy are with the families and friends of all those affected by this appallingly tragic incident. It is one of the most heartbreaking and traumatic pieces of news to hear.

“Kindly convey my words of sincere sympathy and support to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as my wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured in this catastrophe,” he said.

Kalu, while extending his profound condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India, prayed for the survival of those still battling for their lives and a swift recovery for the injured.
