Abia APC Hails Senator Orji Kalu’s Visit To Governor Alex Otti As Statesmanlike
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s recent visit to Governor Alex Otti, describing the move as “statesmanlike” and in line with the spirit of national unity and development.
In a statement issued by Hon. Chief Alaezi Onyekwere John, Zonal Publicity Secretary of the APC in Abia North, the party dissociated itself from a controversial publication that criticised Senator Kalu’s visit. The party labeled the publication as unauthorised, misleading, and lacking any official backing.
“The individual behind the write-up is unknown to the APC in any official capacity and is certainly not recognised as the Publicity Secretary of our party,” the statement clarified. “We challenge the said individual to prove any claim to such a role.”
Chief Onyekwere described the publication as “poorly constructed and baseless,” insisting it did not reflect the views of the party leadership or membership.
“The write-up reeks of personal vendetta and does not represent the position of the Abia APC. Our party is focused on constructive engagement, unity, and credible opposition — not pettiness or internal sabotage.”
Reaffirming its respect for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the party said the former governor remains a distinguished leader with every right to associate and engage across political lines for the betterment of Abia State and Nigeria at large.
“Commending good governance, irrespective of party affiliation, is not betrayal — it is a mark of statesmanship. Senator Kalu’s actions reflect a deep commitment to peace, progress, and inclusive governance,” the statement read.
The Abia APC called on its members and the public to disregard the divisive publication and remain focused on the party’s overarching mission of unity, growth, and responsible opposition.
“The APC in Abia State is committed to rebuilding and advancing a credible political alternative. We urge all stakeholders to steer clear of political mischief and join hands in promoting the values that truly serve our people.”
The party concluded by affirming its full support for any initiative that fosters development and collaboration, saying such efforts transcend partisan boundaries and reflect the maturity needed in today’s political landscape.
