Constituency Projects: Performance In Orji Kalu’s DNA, Says Retired Abia Pensioners
Retired civil servants and pensioners in Abia State have described Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as a leader with performance etched in his DNA, praising his commitment to development and welfare across Abia North Senatorial District.
The commendation came during an inspection tour of projects facilitated by Senator Kalu, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on South East Development Commission, including the newly constructed male hostel at Hope Waddell Secondary School.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Rev. Kalu Ukpai Ota, a respected cleric and retired public servant, said Senator Kalu has consistently shown unmatched dedication to the people, both during his time as Governor and now as a Senator.
“What I have seen here is quite impressive. This is unprecedented in the history of Abia State — a legislator building schools, constructing roads, distributing educational materials, and sponsoring scholarships to study medicine abroad. Truly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is God’s own working tool,” Rev. Ota stated.
He urged other public office holders to emulate the senator’s developmental strides, noting that his performance has brought pride and progress to Abia North.
“As Governor from 1999 to 2007, Orji Kalu made education free, ensured regular payment of pensions and gratuities, and funded civil service with dignity. Today, as a senator, he is renovating and building schools, installing solar-powered streetlights, and empowering communities,” he added.
Rev. Ota disclosed that he personally counted over 50 newly constructed classroom blocks across the five LGAs in Abia North and solar lighting projects in more than 50 communities.
Supporting the remarks, Prof. Uduma Kalu, a prominent academic, hailed Senator Kalu’s achievements as a reflection of his leadership style and foresight.
“Orji Kalu set a standard when he governed Abia State. From free healthcare, payment of thirteenth-month salaries, to roads and rural infrastructure, he laid a foundation that many still benefit from,” Prof. Kalu noted.
He added that Senator Kalu’s legislative achievements — over 70 verifiable projects since 2019 — have turned Abia North into a model for development, earning admiration even from neighbouring districts.
“We must continue to support Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. He has delivered, and his works speak louder than words. His legacy is one of action, not just promises,” Prof. Kalu affirmed.
As momentum builds toward future political decisions, the testimonies from respected voices in the district reinforce Senator Kalu’s image as a transformative figure and a consistent performer in Nigerian politics.
