Amid growing political speculations about the 2027 elections, the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has stated that his primary focus remains on the welfare of the people of Abia North Senatorial District rather than political ambitions.
In a statement, the former Abia State governor emphasized the urgency of addressing the economic hardship faced by Nigerians, stressing that discussions about future elections should not overshadow the immediate needs of the people.
“My focus right now is not on the politics of 2027 but on the people of Abia North Senatorial District and how to improve their lives because there is hunger in the land. I cannot be talking about politics when my people are hungry,” Kalu said.
While acknowledging the endorsements and support from his people both at home and abroad, the senator reiterated that his current mandate, given in 2023, remains his priority.
“Though I appreciate all the endorsements from our people at home and abroad, we still have the mandate given to us in 2023,” he added.
Kalu further stated that his administration’s focus is on delivering democratic dividends, improving the well-being of his constituents, and supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other patriotic Nigerians in addressing the critical challenges affecting national progress.
“My priority at the moment is to deliver more dividends of democracy, put smiles on the faces of my people, and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other patriotic Nigerians in addressing the issues affecting the progress of our great nation,” he affirmed.
