A delegation from the National University Commission (NUC) has conducted an assessment visit to the proposed Orji Uzor Kalu University, Igbere.
The inspection team, led by Amb. Chris Jibrin Maiyaki, included Barr. Sam Adejoh, Acting Director of Establishment for Private Universities, and Mal. Ashafa Ladan, Acting Director of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Others in the team were Dr. Nte Bisong, Deputy Director of Academic Planning, as well as esteemed members such as Zakari Mohammed and Mrs. Olumodeji Oluwatoyin, Assistant Chief Geographical Information Officer.
The team was received by a local delegation comprising Arch. Dike Nduka Ukoha, Deacon Olunkwa Felix MNIPR, and retired CSO Commissioner Chris Okoronkwo.
In his address, Prof. Chris J. Maiyaki assured the community that the commission’s visit was aimed at fulfilling their commitment to establishing Orji Uzor Kalu University. He emphasised that the purpose of the visit was not punitive but to foster development.
In response, His Royal Highness Eze Roland Ekeoma, speaking on behalf of the Igbere Council of Ndieze, expressed gratitude to the NUC team for their visit. He assured them that the community would extend full support and cooperation to facilitate the commission’s efforts in bringing the OUK University to fruition.
This visit represents a hopeful step towards enhancing educational opportunities and promoting development in Igbere and the surrounding regions.
