Dr Alex Chioma Otti, Governor of Abia State; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu; Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu; former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; and the Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, along with other high-profile personalities, are set to attend the highly anticipated 2024 Ohafia Day celebration, organised by Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Abuja Branch.
The event, titled ‘Exterminate Vandalism: Let There Be Light in Ohafia’, is scheduled for Saturday, 7 December, at Old Parade Ground, Abuja, starting at 10 a.m.
According to a statement signed by Chief Kalu Idika Okwara (President) and Prince Iyke Imaga (Chairman, Event Planning Committee), the Ohafia Day celebration “offers a unique opportunity for Umu Ohafia to connect, celebrate their shared heritage, and strengthen community ties.”
This year’s event will be chaired by a former Attorney General of Abia State, Chief Umeh Kalu, SAN, while the Royal Father of the Day will be His Royal Regency, Engr Uma Agbai Olugu, Regent of Udumeze Ohafia. Chief Mrs Nkechi Jacob, known as Odiuko Na Mba 1, will serve as the Mother of the Day.
The day’s activities will include: a reception for prominent sons and daughters in political positions, award presentations, the preservation of the community constitution, ceremonial handovers, and enthralling cultural displays showcasing Ohafia traditions.
