The lawmaker representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, on Thursday, installed solar street lights in Ndi Ibe community, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.
Rep Osonwa, who is the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on FCT Judiciary, initiated the installation of the street lights to fulfill his campaign promise to the people.
He stated that the project would enhance security and address the socio-economic challenges of the people, emphasising the importance of light for human and societal development.
He noted that several communities in the federal constituency had previously benefited from similar street light installations.
“I have fulfilled my promise to the people. Democracy is all about the people, and my dedication to serving the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency is non-negotiable. It is the people first,” he said.
Osonwa, however, enjoined the benefiting communities to safeguard the street lights diligently in their interest and for the overall development of their respective areas.
He also urged communities that are yet to benefit from the project to be patient, expressing his commitment to extending the initiative to them.
“The project will be implemented in phases and will reach other areas that have not benefited from this first phase,” he added.
Rep Osonwa assured his constituents of quality representation that would enhance their standard of living. He solicited their continued support and prayers to help him succeed in the tasks ahead.
The lawmaker also called on the people of his constituency and the state at large to continue supporting Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
Commending the lawmaker on behalf of the community, His Royal Highness, Ezieogo Nwachukwu Obasi, the traditional ruler of Ndi Ibe Ohafia, said, “Right from your campaign last year, I knew you would not forget Ndi Ibe Okwara as you promised. You have kept your word.
“May the Almighty God keep you and reward you abundantly. Rest assured, you are always welcome in Ndi Ibe. We will always stand by you, and like Oliver Twist, I can’t help but ask for more. God bless you, Obia-Ori. My best regards to your family.”
The President General of Ndi Ibe Ohafia Improvement Union, Dr. Ndukwe Idika, expressed gratitude: “We are grateful to Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa for including Ndi Ibe among the first communities to benefit from this project. We pray God strengthens him to continue bringing the dividends of democracy to our people.”
Similarly, Chief Kalu Idika, President of Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Abuja Branch, lauded the lawmaker for his developmental strides.
