Chief David Sabo Kente, a renowned philanthropist and politician, is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) from Kwararafa University, Wukari, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the university and society.
This prestigious honour is a testament to his tireless efforts in empowering the people of Taraba State and Nigeria as a whole.
As a respected leader, Kente has made significant impacts through his foundation, the DSK Foundation, which has provided scholarships to numerous students, donated to orphanages, and supported the less privileged.
His philanthropic work has earned him several awards, including “Ambassador of Peace and Societal Development” and “Icon of Humanitarian Services” by the Taraba State Students Union.
The honorary doctorate degree will be conferred on 9th November 2024, during the university’s second and combined convocation ceremony at the main campus in Wukari, Taraba State. The occasion will celebrate the achievements of individuals and their contributions to society.
Professor Shishi Zhema, the university’s Vice Chancellor, praised Kente as a great ambassador of Nigeria, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to both the university and society.
Chief Kente has announced his intention to accept the honorary degree from Kwararafa University, a distinction he has earned due to his tireless efforts in promoting and uplifting the institution. Notably, Kente has previously declined similar honours from other institutions, making this acceptance particularly significant.
Kente will be joined by other distinguished honourees, including Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and former Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu.
Kente’s achievements extend beyond philanthropy; he is also a successful businessman and politician, having contested for the Taraba State gubernatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress.
His restoration agenda for Taraba State aims to harness the state’s natural resources, create jobs, and propel the state towards economic growth.
