PROFILES: OIU Abuja Election Heats Up, Ohafia Elites Vie for Leadership Positions

The Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Abuja chapter, is set to elect new leaders on Sunday, September 1, 2024, amidst growing tension. The election has attracted top Ohafia elites, ensuring a competitive and intense contest.

Ezie Ohafia, Chief Paul Ochea Ibe, and his Secretary, Odezigizigi Ohafia Elder Lopez O. M. Awa, will be stepping down, having served meritoriously and fostered a strong Ohafia community in Abuja.

The presidential election is expected to be a landslide victory for the people’s choice, with the mantra “Odinma” (beautiful) echoing throughout the campaign.

The most contested positions are the First and Second Vice Presidents, with Prince Iyke Imaga and Chief Kingsley Okeh vying for the top spot, while Chief Felix Ume and Mr. Eke Iroh Ofuche compete for the second position.

All financial positions are contested by Chartered Accountants, including one with a Ph.D., ensuring expertise in financial management. The Secretariat positions are also highly contested, with capable candidates vying for roles.

Odezigizigi Ohafia, Elder Lopez O. M. Awa in a chat with The Whisperer on Friday, expressed satisfaction with the quality of candidates, noting that the election will ensure “square pegs in square holes” and a seamless transition of leadership.
